When Wes joined Facebook in 2016 he understood a key advertiser pain point was unclear or inconsistent specifications across placements.
The existing Ads Guide Facebook produced was manually updated by dozens of product managers, and frequently out of date. To solve this issue Wes worked with Facebook’s solutions engineering team to build a new ads API. This API didn’t just store the ad specifications, it used these specifications to power Facebook products. Essentially, the ad specs would be accurate because they were the same specs Facebook surfaces were using to build apps and websites.
In 2017 Wes received a “Redefines Expectations” award and a “Power of Partnership” award for delivering the upgraded ads guide to the public.
